Day 1 - The flight to London und the coach to Pangbourne

The first day wasn't that interesting. Of course, I was very nervous. It was the first time, I flew alone. The flight (FR307) from Ryanair left from Salzburg Airport (SZG) to London Stansted (STN) at 14:25. Since my sister had a date, she took me quite early to Salzburg Airport and I was first to check-in. 17.5kg... Then I knew: I have far too much luggage. Since Ryanair doesn't hand out boarding cards with reserved seats but have a "priority boarding system", my early check-in wasn't of any use :-(

Salzburg Airport was sooo small, so I was unsure, if there a toilets behind the security line... but, luckily, there were. About 15-20 minutes till boarding all passengers hurried to the gate to get the best seats... but which were the best seats? Of course those, where you can easily take nice pictures...

As I entered Stansted, I was confronted with the british accent the first time as the security asked me, where I took off from and I had to ask her, what she had actually asked... My luggage arrived quite soon and I waddled to the National Express office. I planned my journey using http://www.gobycoach.com before and so I knew which coaches I wanted to take and how much it would be. Thank god, I slowly came to understand this accent so I wasn't too lost. Anyway, I bought my three tickets (London, Stansted ⇒ Reading-Calcot, Reading-Calcot ⇒ Southampton, Southampton ⇒ London, Stansted). And yet, I've spent my first £45...

So I went to Bay 21/22 where Coach 717 should bound for Heathrow Airport. It's unbelievable Two Airports of the same city are spread so far, that it takes more than two hours to come from one to another. However, I took Coach 200 then to travel to Reading-Calcot.

I actually should have met Nicole, the friend of my sisters, who I didn't really know, there, but she sent me a text message, that she won't be able to pick me up. But she sent the manager of the hotel she was working at. Of course I had no idea how she would look like and the description Nicole sent me ("small, ponytail") wasn't that exact. But luckily, I was the only passenger left at the Bay so she recognised me...

Her english... well.. er... glaring. Fast, but at least, I was able to understand a little bit and so we didn't have to be silent the whole journey from Reading to Pangbourne. But I realised that my english became very very bad...

Nicole
After we arrived at the George Hotel Pangbourne, I came to know Nicole and we left for her staff appartment. There I could recreate after this exertive journey. After all, I spent 10 hours travelling and now I watched a slackening episode of the Comedy SouthPark.

We then had mushrooms in cream sauce with "Klöße" (sounds like "closer"). The Klöße were made of original german raw material. Oh, now I know why I had 17.5kg of luggage :-)
